John Patrick Daly (born April 28, 1966 in Carmichael,
California) is an American Professional Golfer on the PGA (Professional Golfing
Association) Tour. He turned professional in 1987 winning the Missouri open in
the same year. He is considered one of the strangest players in professional
golf.
John Daly remains an unconventional player. His often
flamboyant clothing with disregard for the Country Club mentality of professional
golf has often led him into trouble. The PGA Tour suspended him for 6 months in
2008 which ended in 2009 May. This is not the strangest fate to fall John.
John Daly World Ranking
His world ranking’s currently at 257 in 2011 with a paltry $12,000 in prize money so far. This remains a considerably small sum for a professional golfer. His career total’s measured at $9.7 million to date. In contrast to other golfers, his career looks like it’s in need of revival for the strangest player in golf.John Daly Successes on the Golf Course
John Daly won the British Open in 1995 at The Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland. The total prize fund for this win in Britain remains a staggeringly cool $199,375. His other big win in his golfing career was the 1991 U.S. PGA Championship. This marks John Daly as a two-time major winner no mean feat for the strangest player to grace a golf course.
His strength comes from powerfully long tee-shots currently
averaging at 298.4 yards. The ability to gain distance in his golf game has
often come at a price. His short game has led to many dropped points in
professional golf competitions. Daly’s putting currently averages at 29.73 per
round slightly higher than the PGA Tour average of 29.29.
